California Lemon Law Attorney Douglas D. Law, Esq.

The Law Offices of Douglas D. Law, Esq. is proud to announce that California Lemon Law attorney Douglas D. Law recently received a “Preeminent” AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, an international ranking service for attorneys. Preeminent is the highest AV rating awarded by Matindale-Hubbell and first requires that the attorney receive perfect scores on ethics from surveyed peers consisting of attorneys and judges who have personal experience with the attorney. The attorney is then ranked on such items as creativity, quality of written work, and trial skills. The attorney must receive perfect scores in each of the categories in order to receive the “Preeminent” ranking.

Mr. Law began his education at University of California, Santa Barbara where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with Honors in 1978. Mr. Law then attended University of San Diego, School of Law where he worked with one of the original “Nadar’s Radars” Professor Robert Fellmuth from Harvard, and Distinguished Professor in Administrative Law Kenneth Culp Davis, author of Administrative Law a leading treatise. While in law school, Mr. Law also clerked for Roger’s & Wells, a top national Wall Street law firm. Mr. Law received his Juris Doctor degree in 1983 from University of San Diego, School of Law.

While in law school Mr. Law had an article published in a text book regarding San Diego’s desegregation case Carlin v. Board of Education and received top honors in several classes including Constitutional Law.

After several years of practice with Lionel Sawyer & Collins, the largest law firm in Nevada, Mr. Law opened his own practice in San Diego, California in 1988 and has practiced exclusively in the area of California lemon law ever since. He was a co-founder of a state-wide organization of lemon law lawyers in the early 1990s and has appeared on numerous radio programs and television news casts involving consumer law, the California lemon law, and automobile dealer fraud.

Mr. Law has also testified before the California State Legislature on issues involving consumer arbitration and coverage of the lemon law for recreational vehicles including motor homes.

Mr. Law has handled a number of landmark California lemon law cases including Foreman v. National R.V., Inc. (1995) 34 Cal.App.4th 1072 and Robertson v. Fleetwood Travel Trailers of California (2006) 144 Cal.App. 4th 785. Mr. Law was also the principal trial attorney in the landmark case Thompson v. 10,000 RV Sales, Inc. (2005) 130 Cal.App.4th 950.

Mr. Law considers the Preeminent ranking from Martindale-Hubbell a “lifetime achievement” award. There are few accolades awarded to lemon law lawyers in California and it was very satisfying to Mr. Law to be recognized by Martindale-Hubbell for his hard work and achievements for the past 30 years.

“I am proud of my practice and the high ethical standards I have set for my law firm. My firm enjoys a great deal of respect from vehicle manufacturers and defense attorneys which helps resolving cases quickly and efficiently.” Mr. Law’s practice focuses on cases arising under the California lemon law, as well consumer fraud statutes and truth-in-lending law.

What Our Clients Say

Rating:

"Doug and Kristen were invaluable in getting GM to repurchase my Corvette due to the driveline defects in the car that Chevrolet could not fix after 9 visits. GM and the Chevy dealerships in La Mesa and Mission Valley were not helpful, giving me absurd excuses, runarounds and one time ultimately refusing to write the defects up after demonstrating them to one of their technicians. In short, I highly recommend them to handle any lemon law case you may have."
