242,780 Dodge Rams manufactured in the U.S. are being recalled due to a front steering system failure. The tie rod may have been improperly assembled during the manufacturing process. The tie rod could fracture or break, causing loss of control of the vehicle and lead to a crash, injury, or death.

The Dodge pickups being recalled were all built between February 14th, 2008 and August 15th, 2008, including the ’08 Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4x4s, ’08-’11 Ram 2500/3500 4x4s and ’08-’11 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis 4x2s.

But there is another factor that adds to the dilemma, even if your Dodge pickup isn’t included in the recall directly, it could have received the faulty tie rod during routine servicing or repair! Consumers can contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403. Dealerships will inspect the front steering system for free.
