On Monday April 12th, 2010, Toyota began suspending sales of the 2010 Lexus GX 460 do to a hazardous safety issue. Consumer Reports had recently issued a “Don’t Buy: Safety Risk” alert, something they have not issued in 10 years, after standard road testing proved the SUV at high risk for rollover during routine turns. Toyota denied these allegations saying the Lexus SUV “meets or exceeds all federal government testing requirements.” Toyota was later fined $16.4 million for failure to report a safety hazard.
