Ducati of North America is recalling over a thousand of their motorcycles. The bikes included in the recall are the 2011 Diavel and the 2010-’11 Multistrada 1200. The problem lies in the steering system’s hands-free electronic system.

The steering lock is predisposed to jamming up. If the handlebars lock up, a rider can still start the engine. If he neglects to realize that the steering is locked and he takes off it could cause a low-speed tip-over or collision, which has the potential to cause bodily harm to the rider or damage to the bike itself and any vehicle it may run into.

Ducati has begun instructing dealers to fix the hands-free software for FREE. To contact Ducati directly, call (800) 231-6696.
