General Motors (GM) announced that it will be recalling 739 pickups and SUVs made in 2011, including the GMC Yukon & Yukon XL and Sierra, the Chevrolet Tahoe, Silverado, & Suburban, and the Cadillac Escalade & Escalade ESV. The affected vehicles’ intermediate shaft were not tightened properly when they were repaired at the assembly plant. GM said, “an error in the cab build process required the original cab to be removed and replaced with a new cab” but the proper procedure was not adhered to.

GM is also recalling nearly 6,800 pickups made in 2011 because of possible inaccuracies with the automatic transmission. The affected pickups include the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado with the 4-speed automatic engine. A faulty clip may cause the shift lever to read inaccurately. The vehicle may say it is in park when it is not and therefor roll away unexpectedly.
