U.S. Auto Safety Regulator launched an investigation last year into the Ford Motor Company, which is now recalling over One Million trucks, including their biggest seller, the Ford F-150. The problem lies in the metal straps set to hold the fuel tank in place. These straps are corroding and braking, causing the fuel tank to fall which is a VERY dangerous safety hazard. 3 fires and 1 injury have been reported so far.

The corrosion is mainly caused by chemicals in de-icing formulas implemented on snowy, ice-covered streets during the colder winter months. The engines “can corrode after operation for extended periods of time in high-corrosion areas,” according to Wesley Sherwood, a spokesperson for Ford Motor Company.
